Event Photographer in Cardiff, Wales and across the UK.

Good event photography starts with paying attention. To people, to place, and to what’s happening in the event. It’s about producing clear, honest images that show what the event was actually like and give clients photographs they can use for communication, promotion and as a visual document of the day.

Based in Cardiff, I provide professional event photography across Wales and throughout the UK. I work with brands, organisations and event teams to photograph conferences, cultural events, brand launches, retreats and public events, delivering consistent, high-quality images for marketing, PR and editorial use.

Professional event photography: my approach

Strong event photography relies on preparation, timing and observation. Events move quickly, so understanding the flow of the day is essential.

Before every event, I review schedules, key moments and locations. I arrive early to assess light, layout and movement, allowing me to work efficiently once the event begins. This approach helps capture moments as they unfold, without disruption or staging.

Coverage focuses on:

People and interactions.
Wide images showing scale and setting.
• Mid-range images of interaction and engagement.
• Close details that add context and atmosphere.

Together, these create a complete visual record suitable for websites, press coverage, reports and social media.

Who I work with.

• Brands and agencies
• Cultural, educational and ideas-led events
• Arts organisations and festivals
• Charities and public sector teams
• Conference and event organisers

Clients often need photography that serves multiple purposes, promotion, documentation, funding, and future marketing. Clear communication before the event ensures the photography aligns with those needs.

Event Photography Case Studies

The Do Lectures, Cardigan, Wales

I’ve been lucky enough to photographed The Do Lectures three times over the years.

The Do Lectures are an annual, intimate event held in West Wales, founded in 2008 by Clare and David Hieatt. Set in a rural landscape on their farm in Cardigan, the gathering brings together people who care about ideas, making and doing. Through talks, workshops and shared time, the focus is on curiosity, action and positive change, not passive listening, but real engagement and community. The brief was to capture the talks, portraits of the speakers, workshops and informal conversations that define the event.

The photography has been used across digital platforms and social media to promote future events and communicate the ethos of The Do Lectures to a global audience. My images are also featured in a Do Book Co book called Do Curate which was written by Clare Hieatt.

A Yarn Story Knitting Retreat, Royal Crescent Hotel, Bath

This project involved event photography at a creative knitting retreat hosted by A Yarn Story, a well-loved luxury yarn shop on Walcot Street in Bath, known for its carefully curated range of hand-dyed and high-quality fibres and its warm, community-centred atmosphere.

The retreat was led by Carmen Schmidt, founder and owner of A Yarn Story, who started the shop in 2014 after discovering a deep passion for knitting and the creative community that surrounds it.  Set in the elegant Royal Crescent Hotel, the event celebrated craft, connection and skill-sharing, bringing knitters together for workshops, conversation and hands-on creativity.

Photography blended lifestyle and documentary styles to show hands at work, the rich textures of yarn, group interactions and the calm, immersive atmosphere of the retreat. The images were used to support marketing, social media and editorial content, helping communicate the experience, aesthetic and community focus of the event.

Cardiff City of Arcades Day, 2024

Cardiff City of Arcades Day is a public cultural event celebrating the city’s historic arcades. I photographed the 2023 and 2024 event across multiple locations, documenting activities, performances, traders and visitors.

The resulting images provided a visual record of the event and were used by organisers and partners to promote Cardiff’s arcades as active, social spaces within the city.
