Photographing 19 LA — Weberhaus Luxury Home Photography in Cardiff

Some houses stop you in your tracks. This is one of those houses.

19 LA in Cardiff is owned by Claire Bowles and built by Weberhaus. From the outside it sits in a perfectly normal residential street. Turn into the road and it just… stops you. It doesn’t look like it belongs there. Like it’s been dropped in from somewhere else and hasn’t quite explained itself to the neighbours yet! It’s pretty breathtaking.

Inside, it’s a different world again entirely.

An indoor pool with a sculptural chrome slide and giant mirror balls hanging over the water. A kitchen that pairs dark marble with reclaimed barn oak and teal velvet bar stools. A living space covered floor to ceiling in art, personality, and collected life. Bar area flowing into living space flowing into pool. Nothing separates in the way you’d expect. It’s clearly a family home with four kids, a Pomeranian, a house built for living in but one that also happens to be genuinely spectacular. The kind of place where a quiet Tuesday evening feels just as at home as Carl Cox DJing on the verandah!

There aren’t many houses in Cardiff that genuinely take your breath away. This is one of them. And if I’m honest, I felt the weight of that. This is a big, bold build and I wanted to do it justice.

So I put the camera down first and just walked it. Took my time. Let the place tell me what it was before I started making decisions about how to show it. Nearly fell sideways into the pool at one point which would have been a memorable start to the shoot!

Some rooms needed breathing space. Others only made sense when I got right in and stopped trying to include everything at once. The light kept shifting things too. Spaces that felt flat in the morning were doing something completely different a few hours later.

I ended up staying later than planned. As the light outside dropped, the interior and exterior lighting took over and the house became something else again. A completely different complexion. Well worth waiting for.
