Veras Shoes Footwear Photography in Porthcawl and Cardiff.

Veras Shoes was created by Neil Morris, a designer and retailer from Port Talbot with over thirty years of experience in menswear. Neil first made his mark in 1997 with the legendary Cardiff streetwear shop Drooghi, before going on to launch two respected footwear labels: Wild Bunch and Veras Shoes.

Veras has become known for its blend of Spanish craftsmanship and British design sensibility. The brand’s collections are stocked by leading menswear stores around the world, including Hip Store in England, CHCM in New York and Union in Los Angeles. Veras has also collaborated with influential brands such as YMC, 6876 and Pretty Green.

I’ve worked with Veras Shoes to create footwear photography for their lookbooks, website and social media. The focus was on showing the shoes as they are meant to be worn — relaxed, versatile and full of character. In true Port Talbot business style, I’ve even been paid in shoes.

Behind the Shoot

The Veras Shoes shoots took place on location in Porthcawl and Cardiff, mixing the easy rhythm of the coast with a more urban edge. The light along the Welsh coast gave the leather and suede a natural warmth, while the studio sessions in Cardiff brought control and precision. The result was a clean, consistent library of images that reflects the brand’s understated confidence.

Working With Veras

Working with Neil and the Veras shoes team is a reminder that strong design doesn’t need noise. The brand’s strength lies in its simplicity: honest materials, subtle colours, timeless shapes. That ethos shapes the photography too. The shoots were calm, collaborative and true to the product.

Veras shoes has a distinctive identity that connects Welsh roots with European craft. It’s a brand that feels both local and global, and that’s exactly what I wanted the photography to convey.

The Approach

My approach to footwear and product photography is simple: tell the story of the brand through light, tone and texture. For Veras Shoes, that meant natural light, clean compositions and space for the product to breathe. Every frame was about honesty, showing how the shoes actually look and feel in the real world.

If you’re looking for a footwear photographer in Cardiff or South Wales, I work with independent brands to create lookbooks, web and lifestyle imagery that feel genuine and consistent.
